Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson Both lawyers. When she was just five years old and moved to Oxfordshire and went to the Dragon School. From the age of six Emma realized that she was going to become an actress. Over several years, she studied at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught the art of acting and dancing. By the age of ten she performed as well as taken as the main character in several Stagecoach shows and school productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) The film adaptation to J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel premiered for the first time in 1999. Emma was identified by casting agents thanks to Emma's Oxford theatre professor. After eight consistent auditions producer David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were selected to play the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first film on the screen took place in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone which was released in 2001. It also was the most popular film of 2001. Opening weekday and weekend ticket sales were record breaking. It was highly praised by critics, as were the performances of its three new stars. The well-known British paper The Daily Telegraph called her acting performance as admirable. Afterward, Emma was shortlisted for five prizes for her work in the film, winning the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in an Feature Film.
